New York State School Age Care
Registration is a mandatory registration system
regulated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYSOCFS)
through which providers of school-age childcare self-certify that they meet standardized
requirements. School-age childcare refers to
any care that is provided on a regular basis to seven or more school-age children under
the age of 13 years during the school year before and/or after the period in which
children are ordinarily in school. It may
also include care during school half days, school holidays, and school vacations. However, it does not apply to summer day camp,
traveling summer camp or childrens overnight camp; a program that operates solely
for the purpose of religious education, sports classes, lesson or recreation or a program
operated by a public school district or by a private school.
